Date Night Ideas!
If you don’t already have one, it might seem strange to schedule a romantic night with someone you spend so much time with anyway but almost every couple will tell you that they have a date night themselves. The purpose of a date night is not just for fun but it also brings you back to the start of your relationship, when you began dating and this one night a week (or fortnight… whatever you decide to do) can really make a big difference to your marriage. It is one night in the week that you can sit together and have a proper, deeper conversation. It is so easy when at home in the evenings, to become distracted with household chores and the tv.
Planning what to do on the date night should be taken in turns by you both. It gives each person a chance to have someone else arrange a fun evening for them without having to do a thing! It also ensures that both of you get to do an activity you each like.
(Also, being a housewife, it is lovely to have something great to look forward to at the end of the week just like he will be looking forward to it also after a hard week at the work. Hubby’s and my date night is always a Friday. It used to be on a Monday but things always came up and we had to reschedule!).
Below I’ve listed some ideas, and some things my hubby and I like to do. Not all your date nights have to cost money but all should ensure you have a romantic, cosy, together evening!
Some Ideas
-
Go for the traditional meal and a movie date. (You could even sit in the back seats and snuggle!)
-
Instead of a night at the movies why not check out local bars. (You could participate in a pub quiz together or listen to a jazz band or even participate in a salsa evening!)
-
If dinner out is too expensive why not go for brunch together on Saturday. Brunch is cheaper than dinner and a matinee movie will be cheaper also.
-
If you know of a romantic place to drive to and park (a beach somewhere or similar), get something from the drive through and go park! Imagine watching the sun set over the sea while eating hot wings from KFC… divine!)
-
Have a bubble bath for 2. Take into the bathroom, some music and a couple of glasses of champagne.
-
Make a mixtape and listen to it together while cuddling and talking about why you picked specific songs.
-
Go for a mini bar crawl. Hit 3 different bars and sample a bar snack and drink from each.
-
On a warm night, take a blanket and go to the local park for a picnic.
-
Make a spa night. Play relaxing music while giving each other massages with some special oil.
-
Or go to a real spa… for the weekend and unwind together! Lovely.
-
Have a sundae night. Buy absolutely anything that springs to mind and make the craziest sundae ever, then share it!
-
Go to a comedy night. Giggling together will only make you feel more lovely with each other.
-
Play a boardgame but change the rules. I.e. Scrabble… all the words must have something to do with love or romance.
-
Go camping. It is then imperative that you snuggle even closer when noises scare you hehe.
-
Get up extra early and watch the sun rise together with hot chocolate.
-
Have a carpet picnic. Make a meal that you eat with your hands and put tealight candles EVERYWHERE.
-
Have a theme night. Have spaghetti for dinner, drink a bottle of nice italian wine and then watch The Godfather. Or have sushi, sake and watch the Japanese version of The Ring! Scary! So you will probably have to cuddle.
-
Hubby and I have been known to make a fort out of our couches. We turn them on their sides and neatly place all the cushions inside, put blankets on the top and spend the night in there watching movies and having snacks. It is such a snuggly place to fall asleep in too!
Have fun and kiss plenty!
